These photos capture the essence of science and fashion in collaboration. It will allow the wearer to personalise their wardrobe in infinite combinations, and will liberate designers to create new and unique garments. Fabrican also allows for carrier technology, delivering fragrance or even medical active substances.

Magic, Chic, Unique Couture in a can

The initial idea for © Spray-on fabric came from Manel Torres' experience in the fashion industry. These photos capture the essence of science and fashion in collaboration. Fabrican © Spray-on fabric will liberate designers to create new and unique garments, offer a carrier technology for delivery of fragrance or even medical active substances, and allow the wearer to personalise their wardrobe in infinite combinations. New textures and material characteristics are a matter of adjusting chemistry. In addition to fashion, the technology provides new horizons, offering © sprayable material for any application requiring a fabric coating.

The technology opens new vistas for personalised fashion, allowing individual touches to be added to manufactured garments, or even impromptu alterations. Chic clothing could incorporate fragrances, active constituents, or conductive materials to interface with information technology. After a decade of research, this futuristic vision is taking shape.

Fabrican is a rare achievement in transforming a dream to practical realisation. Combining an innate fascination with © Spray-on fabric, and Manel’s extraordinary ability to motivate multi-disciplinary collaboration, Fabrican has promoted interest and attracted worldwide media coverage.

Fabrics can be produced in varying degrees of durability and toughness to accommodate uses such as wound dressings, bandages and casts. Other applications will be discovered by specialist user groups, as Fabrican is adaptable and flexible.

Transdermal Drug Delivery

Transdermal drug delivery is a system of administering drugs through patches placed on the skin. The most commonly known form is the nicotine patch. Transdermal delivery has many advantages over other drug delivery systems, such as:

  • Controlled release of the drug into the patient
  • Enables a steady blood-level profile
  • Reduces systemic side effects (less stress on internal organs such as the liver and the stomach)
  • Non invasive drug delivery system

Using Spray on Fabrics for patches combines traditional advantages with the aesthetic sensibilities of Fabrican.

Patients are be able to choose a spray that matches their skin tone to better hide the patch, making them less self conscious about using the product.

They could alternatively choose bright colours and apply a design of their own choosing, coordinating the patch with their own personal fashion and style.

When samples were made the concentration in the patches was comparable to standard nicotine patches (delivery of 10 micro grams).

There was no detrimental effect on the performance of the spray or the quality of the final fabric.

Hygiene Covers

Fabrican may also be used to create waterproof, yet flexible and soft coverings. In this respect it is an ideal system for hospitals, hospices, hotels, or anywhere that has lots of beds. Benefits in this scenario are the strength and hard wearing attributes of Fabrican.

Cloths and Wipes

By spraying on to a flat surface you can create a wipe that is exactly the size you need, and is completely sterile every time. You can also create a cloth with pre-inserted polish present, making it much easier to give old furniture a new shine.

Instant Sponge

Handy for travelling, as a can takes up much less space, you can create an instant sponge whenever and wherever you need it.

Tea Towels

Tea towels are one of the items in your kitchens that are most likely to be contaminated with germs. Rather than constantly washing them, why not have a brand new, fresh, sterile one every time.

Bio Ethical Insect Containment

Perfect for the arachnophobe. Spray a discret patch of fabric on the wall which would contain bugs and spiders. They can then be taken into your garden and released without harm.

Fabrican's © Spray-on fabric technology has great potential for automotive manufacturers. Instant, non-woven fabric can be applied to interior surfaces where light, durable, and stain-resistant fabrics are required.

Fabrican's unique spray-on application method offers potential cost and time savings in a production environment.

For fleet operators and private motorists, applications might include upholstery or interior surface repairs that will give a fresh new look to the vehicle.

  • Car interior, dashboards, seats, door panels, headliner;

It is our belief that the underlying technology in Fabrican has a wide application in large scale projects within the household wallcovering and interior upholstery industries (though on the factory floor it would not be in a can!). © Spray-on fabric permits the use of innovative shapes, varying thicknesses, and biomimetic forms unobtainable by any other means. A key product development is an aerosol for artists and home users to apply spray-on fabrics and create professional designs.
